#3 Noma SACC portable air conditioner 4 in 1 - 10,000 BTU

The Noma 4 in 1 portable air conditioner is the most expensive on this list for a reason. This unit can cool, heat, dry and fan. Therefore, this unit can be used all year round.

With all the units in this list, they need to be connected to the outside via the hose. The unit comes with the window mounting kit and a flexible hose.

The air conditioner removes moisture from the room to prevent mould and bacteria. It comes with a reusable air filter.

The unit can cool spaces up to 450 sq ft which suits most spaces. The remote is included with 2 AAA batteries. Via the remote you can control the whole unit including setting timers.

The unit will shut off however when the water tank fills, ensure to empty the water build up regularly to ensure continuous use. This is normal however on these types of units.

Available from Canadian Tire, this portable unit is available for $650 here. This is a 1,210 wattage unit so make sure your house is equipped to power this.

#2 Noma SACC Digital Portable Air Conditioner - 10,000 BTU

Number two on this list is the Noma digital portable air conditioner. It is rated to cool the same size room as number three on this list being 450 sq ft.

Much the same as above, it comes with the remote, two AAA batteries included, window mounting kit and flexible exhaust hose. This unit must be vented to the outside.

However, unlike number three in this list this unit does not heat. Yet, it still can remove moisture from the air to help prevent mould and bacteria.

The Noma digital portable air conditioner comes with reusable filters. Much like the 4 in 1 model, it requires the moisture capture tray to be emptied from time to time.

This is a cheaper alternative to the above being that it doesn’t offer the heating element. Whereas our number three on the list can be used all year round, this is for summer use only.

If you are just looking for a portable air conditioner for summer use, save yourself $100 and pick this up at Canadian Tire for $550 here.

#1 Noma SACC Digital Portable Air Conditioner - 8,000 BTU

This is the same model as number two with one difference only. This is a 8,000 BTU unit compared to the 10,000 offered by the previous two.

This reduction in cooling power means it is rated to cool a room of 350 sq ft compared to 450 sq ft. However, on average a living room for example is 330 sq ft so this should be adequate.

It comes with three modes, cooling, drying and fan. This does not heat a room like number three on this list. So again this is a summer unit only.

It has a wattage rating of 1,030 W so this unit is easier on the electric consumption.

It can be moved form room to room. Like with the others it helps to reduce moisture and mould in the house. It also comes with the same controller and batteries.

All these units create a bit of noise, 50db to be exact. To put that into context, 30db is a whisper, 50db would be comparable to typing or a close conversation within 1 meter. Domestic fans range from 30bd to 70db so unless you are right next to this unit it’s not as loud as you might think.

You may be surprised by the price also. You could have a cool summer out of the heat for $500 from Canadian Tire
